EQUALITAS, a new certification for Perlage

The Equalitas standard embraces the three ‘pillars’ of sustainability: environmental, economic and social, addressing the entire wine supply chain.

Equalitas was born in 2015 from a process of gathering and comparing experiences within the academic and business world. The standard is the result of initiatives by Federdoc, Csqa Certificazioni and Valoritalia and therenowned Gambero Rosso Foundation.

Why did Perlage choose to become Equalitas certified?

Perlage chose to comply with Equalitas standard because is certification system aimed at stimulating the wine sector to integrate sustainability into the various business processes. This system is developed into a series of indicators that can do both mapping performance and driving companies towards more advanced sustainable practices.
As with other certifications, the long certification process is guaranteed by a third party to ensure maximum transparency in the management and analysis of sustainability data and performance.
Thanks to Equalitas, Perlage is even more committed to a more solid structure in its planning processes by implementing a reporting method useful for the Sustainability Report and to guarantee and stimulate all its stakeholders towards continuous improvement.
Joining Equalitas allows Perlage to adopt a certification model recognised both nationally and internationally, strengthening the communication about sustainability values and linking them to the Perlage brand, that is synonymous with guarantee and quality in the production and sale of wines.
In fact, the prestigious certification is positively evaluated in our markets, large-scale retail channels, Horeca and the media sector, where it is recognised as the highest standard for sustainable wine.

The various indicators taken into account by Equalitas assess the company's biodiversity, carbon and water footprint as well as analysing the ‘good production, economic, social and communication practices’ to ensure sustainable, responsible and transparent management.
